Silence And Support For The Angels And Their Families Of Sandy Hook

Today, along with so many other bloggers, we will be thinking of those beautiful angels instead of writing, tweeting etc.
We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:
“Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area. ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING.”
Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.
We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let’s make a difference and use blogging in a positive way.

My Heart Continues to Break

In the wake of the events still unfolding in CT, my heart breaks over and over each day.  The stories of the not so lucky and of their lives.  The stories of the heroes, that will continue to come forward.  And I am faced with many thoughts and questions.

Do I explain to the kids what has happened?  How do I explain this?  How do I help them to understand, when I struggle with understanding?  How do I make sense of this in their little minds?

I have chosen not to talk about it in front of the LKs at this time.  I feel they are too young to understand and may be left with fear.  They do understand death but maybe more from natural causes than from acts of violence.  They are still so innocent and I do not want to spoil this innocence yet.

I have hugged them tighter.  I have kissed them more.  I have told them over and over that I Love them!  And then I find out today that daycare went on lockdown.  I shutter to think something may happen in their "safe place" and where would they turn then?

When it comes to C, we have talked about it.  He has asked questions, as have I.  We have watched sever things on TV as details have unfolded and I have been there for him while he has cried for these beautiful children.

We have discussed his school and the safety elements present there.  We have discussed his classroom's lockdown drill.  We have discussed him taking his phone to school everyday.

In the aftermath, I still search for answers to the many questions.  But for today I am ok in knowing that C understands what he needs to understand at this time in his life.  I have encouraged him to talk to myself, his dad, his teacher and/or his counselor if he feels unsafe or has more questions.

But we have taken the time to pray for each child and each adult lost in the Sandy Hook tragedy on December 14, 2012.

Up to Speed

OK, so I guess I should start by bringing you up to speed... on... well US.

Husband and I dated in high school, parted ways and continued to live our lives, separate.  After 7 1/2 years of no contact at all, our lives crossed paths again in March 2006.  We started talking and went out in April.  Proceeded to get engaged in May and married in October 2006.

I instantly became a bonus mom to C.  We made the most of our every-other weekend with him.

In Feb 2008 we welcomed #2, B!

Later that year, C came to live with us full-time.

By October 2009 we welcomed #3, T.

I became the mommy of 3 in just more than a year and a half.

As of currently, we have C in 5th grade, planning his 5th grade trip to Washington DC, playing football and baseball.  B is learning more and more everyday, preparing to start Kindergarten next year and enjoying dance.  T is also learning like a sponge but as most boys, struggling to potty train.

This year I began the venture of going back to school.  In the 2013-2014 I will be the proud holder of a Bachelors Degree in Project Management.

I can not guarantee how "well put together" this blog will be as I am all over the board with life and that will probably reflect in my writing :-).  So, I apologize NOW! One day I am doing park playtime with the LKs (little kids), one day we are making crafts, the next day we may be at the park all day, and the next I may be couponing and studying.

We are a CrAzY bUsY family... and this is our story.....
